Pure Samoa score win, keep their volleyball finals hopes alive |
18-05-2015 - Stuff.co.nz.
Pure Samoa kept themselves in contention for a finals berth and the Woodbourne Cannons extended their lead at the top of the standings in premier grade volleyball, played at Marlborough Lines Stadium in Blenheim on Thursday.
Premier, C and social grades all contested their penultimate week of games before finals in Fairweathers Senior Indoor Summer League play.
In the top grade it was the final game of the night, between Pure Samoa and Uso Fiafia, which was most closely fought. Some strong spiking from Pure Samoa's Nimo Taala aided his side in scoring a slim advantage in the first set, taking it 25-23. Uso stormed back in the second though, rolling to a 25-14 set win to even the encounter.
