Mothers in Samoa – time for some facts |
14-05-2014 -SamoaObserver.
Now that Mothers Day weekend is over, and families have been free to treat their mothers well, it’s time to get back to business.
When the day itself is swamped in sentimentality and what critics describe as commercialisation, it still seems like being a killjoy to bring up those facts before the event.
But that has not stopped the Save The Child fund releasing an annual State of the World’s Mothers report.
As might be expected in a report that effectively deals with the entire planet, Samoa gets very little mention, confined to two statistical lists.
But those two mentions led the Samoa Observer to review what statistics are available when it comes to motherhood in Samoa.
