Education officials in Samoa say they're not backing away from tough new polices that end decades of strict physical discipline in schools.
Under the new act on corporal punishment, teachers risk being sent to prison if they hit a student.
Last week, the Ministry of Education finished consultations with teachers in Upolu and Savaii, to update them on the new penalties.
