Frustrated farmers and vendors who are forced to brave the elements day after day at the makeshift Fugalei market are fed up.
They are tired of what they described as “failed promises” by the Government to begin the construction of the new Fugalei Market, which should have started months ago.
“I am so tired of the centipedes and ants biting me during the night because we have to sleep here at night time,” said Lapana Lapana, of Tauese.
“This place is not safe on rainy or even sunny days – it makes us so sick and is not safe for us as sellers.”
Lapana was among a handful of vendors who say they cannot wait until the new market is completed.
